As part of the event “Technology Supply-Demand Connection – Key Products and OCOP Products Associated with Traceability in Can Tho City 2026,” a scientific seminar entitled “Traceability of OCOP Products Associated with Digital Transformation and E-Commerce” was successfully held on the afternoon of May 28, 2026, at the Can Tho Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances (CASTA). The seminar attracted representatives from government agencies, local authorities, enterprises, cooperatives, OCOP producers, and experts from both Vietnam and abroad.
The seminar served as an important forum for sharing experiences, updating participants on emerging technological trends, and proposing solutions to enhance management efficiency and market development for OCOP products through the application of traceability technologies, digital transformation, and e-commerce. It was also one of the key activities of the 2026 technology supply-demand connection event, supporting enterprises, cooperatives, and OCOP stakeholders in improving their competitiveness in the rapidly growing digital economy.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Bui Minh Chau, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Science and Technology, emphasized that traceability is not only a product quality management tool but also an essential solution for increasing consumer confidence, enhancing brand value, and meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of both domestic and international markets. He noted that the application of digital technologies in traceability is becoming an inevitable trend for agricultural products, food products, and OCOP products.
Advanced Technology Solutions for Product Traceability
During the seminar, Ms. Bui Ngoc Le, Chief Executive Officer of Deep Pro Joint Stock Company, presented advanced technological solutions for product data management, traceability systems, and information connectivity through digital platforms. Practical application models demonstrated the effectiveness of these technologies in improving product transparency, helping businesses build customer trust, and enhancing supply chain management.
OCOP enterprises that have already implemented traceability systems also shared practical experiences in brand building, raw material area management, product quality control, and market expansion. Their success stories provided valuable lessons for cooperatives and production facilities currently undergoing digital transformation.
Blockchain and QR Codes in Agricultural Product Traceability
One of the seminar’s most engaging topics was the application of Blockchain technology and QR codes in the traceability of agricultural and OCOP products. Experts analyzed the key advantages of blockchain technology in ensuring transparency, authentication, and protection against data manipulation and fraud.
When integrated with QR codes, blockchain-based systems allow consumers to easily access comprehensive product information using smartphones, including raw material origins, production processes, and quality certifications. This significantly enhances transparency throughout the supply chain and strengthens consumer confidence.
Expanding Market Opportunities Through E-Commerce
Another topic that attracted considerable attention from enterprises and cooperatives was the integration of OCOP products into e-commerce platforms alongside traceability systems.
Experts shared practical solutions to help producers:
- Increase customer reach
- Expand distribution markets
- Enhance product value
- Improve online visibility
- Build consumer trust through transparent product information
The combination of e-commerce and traceability data was highlighted as a powerful strategy for strengthening market competitiveness in the digital era.
International Perspectives on Sustainable Supply Chains
The seminar was honored by the participation of Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Dat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and International Business at Thuongmai University.
His presentations provided international perspectives on the application of blockchain technology in developing sustainable supply chains, promoting circular economy models, and advancing modern agriculture. Experiences from developed countries demonstrated that data digitization and product information transparency are increasingly becoming fundamental requirements for improving competitiveness and meeting global standards.
Discussion and Recommendations
The discussion session featured lively exchanges among participants regarding the challenges, opportunities, and practical experiences associated with implementing traceability systems for OCOP products.
Many delegates proposed:
- Increasing support for enterprises and cooperatives in accessing new technologies
- Developing digital skills and human resources
- Building integrated ecosystems that connect production, traceability, and e-commerce
- Strengthening collaboration among stakeholders in the OCOP value chain
These recommendations underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to accelerate digital transformation in agriculture.
Promoting Sustainable Development of OCOP Products
The seminar provided valuable knowledge, practical experiences, and actionable solutions to support digital transformation in the agricultural sector and foster the development of OCOP products in a modern, transparent, and sustainable manner.
At the same time, it created opportunities for enterprises, cooperatives, researchers, and government agencies to connect, exchange information, explore partnerships, and expand market opportunities.
The success of the seminar once again highlighted the crucial role of science, technology, and innovation in local economic development. It also contributed to enhancing the value of Can Tho City's key products and OCOP products, supporting the vision of building a modern, sustainable, and internationally integrated agricultural sector.
Through initiatives such as this seminar, Can Tho City continues to demonstrate its commitment to leveraging digital technologies and innovation to strengthen product competitiveness, improve market access, and create sustainable value for local producers and consumers alike.
